THE ALLERGY GROCER

Providing lunch choices for our school age children is becoming much more difficult. Food allergies and the potential for lunch time cross contamination is challenging for children with allergies, educators and the parents of children who do not have allergies.

Dietary issues are challenging enough but trying to provide lunches within the parameters of the various class allergy lists is tough. Providing safe meals in a peanut, kiwi, fish, soy and egg free environment is getting to be impossible.

I have been considering a post on the sheer number of allergies in the classroom and their impact but have not had time to do the necessary research. Whenever I am with a group of parents at school or in a social setting the issue of allergies is always a hot topic of debate. It appears to me that people's tolerances are at an all time low.

Here is a great link for parents with children in school who are dealing with allergies.
