GAS IS GOING TO COST AN EXTRA DIME A LITRE IN THE AM

The remnants of Hurricane Ike may blow into Labrador later this week but the hurricanes impact on fuel production will hit us hard after midnight.

The fella on the cash at my local Ultramar just told me he has been instructed to raise prices at the pump by ten cents for Sept 15th. I had pulled in to gas up because my tank was empty.

Hurricane Ike's direct hit to the heart of oil refineries in the United States is causing concern. While the full extent of the damage is not known problems related to providing electricity to some refineries could mean that they could be without power for weeks.

Nearly 25% of America's oil is refined in the region impacted by what some analysts are calling the third most expensive natural disaster in America's history.
