HARPER PROMISES 2006: DO NOT BE FOOLED AGAIN
The Prime Minister is in the Province today. Here are a few reminders of the 2006 election campaign and the promise made:
Since you are supporting Harris and since you were at Ryan's nomination (but apparently are supporting Siobhan), and since this post is about promises, what did you think of Layton's promise on Friday night?
ReplyDeleteEd:
ReplyDeleteInteresting how you make statements that are not true. Unless I have a clone of some sort or there is an impostor, I have not been at any NDP function, as of yet!
I certainly was not at Ryan's nomination. Was that a while guess or some more liberal propaganda!
I am supporting Jack Harris. I live in the East, so what happens in the South is a little outside of my sphere to influence.
Who are you voting for Ed?
This post is about broken Harper Promises. Not had much of a chance to hear what Mr. Layton promised. Been busy doing some community service for my parish council, tearing down a deck today and it is Conor's birthday. One of the great things about not being chained to this is that I can turn it on and off when ever I like.
Geez, Peter, you are awfully sensitive and characteristically are trying to shift the focus away from a simple, straightforward question with a barrage of smoke and personal jabs.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was you in a video from Cleary's nomination. Let me check the video and if it's my mistake, I'll own up.
In the meantime, let's go back to the simple, straightforward question based on just Jack Harris, as it relates to the ABC, the Equalization thing and all the rest of the ABC atmosphere:
What do you think of Layton's commitment on Friday night to honour the Atlantic Accord, increase taxes on oil companies and hand over the Hibernia shares "after a period of time"?
Ed:
ReplyDeleteIt is your mistake..and the personal jab was from you.(since you were at Ryan's nomination (but apparently are supporting Siobhan)
As I said in my early post, I really had not had a chance to read, listen or hear what Layton said, so it was a little hard to comment on it.
I know that Jack Harris has always been a proponent of a public energy corporation that included the federal share of Hibernia.
I thought Layton was in the process of writing a comprehensive responses to the premiers letter.
I thought he did a better job of dealing with Ryan's previous comments than you did. Nice way to but an ugly issue behind him. If I can convince someone like Ryan Cleary that we are viable than I am doing something right.
I would like a more definitive transfer schedule for the Hibernia Shares and if we are going to be in the oil industry, we have to be treated like the other players. Corporate tax rates are something the dippers always speak to raising.
Nothing in in that would shake me off voting for Harris.
There's a guy in the video who looks just like you, but then again since I haven't seen you in a while, I'll take it as a simple case of misidentification on my part.
ReplyDeleteIn any event it's really secondary since the main point was to wonder how you felt about the NDP position on the $10 billion and Equalization. Thus far, after two comments, you've completely ignored it in favour of all the smoke and nonsense about nominations and so forth.
I would have that was a big issue to you given what you've written pretty much you started this blog.
So let's try yet again to get you to deal with a simple question:
What do you think of Layton's commitment on Friday night to honour the Atlantic Accord but - apparently not commit to the Premier's position on non-renewables, full-stop. As an ABC/Equalization supporter this must cause you come concern; at least I would think it would.
As for the increase taxes on oil companies sure the NDP always talks about it, but how do you feel about a federal NDP government increasing taxation on a provincial Crown corporation in the oil sector?
Ed:
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, the only person who promised to remove non renewable resources from the EQF was Harper, than he turned around and refused to do it.
Thats the issue is it not!
Peter:
ReplyDeleteYou've argued repeatedly in favour of removing non-renewables from Equalization, have you not? That's one of the major planks of the ABC campaign; its even in the ABC letter from the Premier alongside 37 other demands.
Apparently you have some difficultly with my simple question about your own positions in the past and now. You seem to be wriggling around, almost as if you are confused.
I'll wait until after the Premier issues his news release on the ABC letters. Then you'll know what to say.
