ABANDON SHIP..IT'S SINKING

The Captain of the Conservative flagship in Newfoundland and Labrador has issued the "Abandon Ship" order. The ship has been lost and to remain aboard would result in a defeat. It is now up to potential Conservative candidates to fend for themselves and try and survive the growing ABC movement on the Avalon.

CTV is reporting what folks who read P&P have known for a while. Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn knows when he is licked. The quisling fears the reprisals from an angry electorate and is quitting as soon as the writ is dropped.

There was a period of reconsideration over the summer but by the third week of August Hearn realized that all the federal money in the world was not going to salvage his political career. The shortage of volunteers has left him without a crew to man/woman his warship.

Hearn is a senior member of the Conservative cabinet. He is a former provincial cabinet minister and was the architect of the Progressive Conservative - Conservative Alliance. This does not auger well for the progressive voices in the Conservative caucus.

The same news report indicates that another well known conservative quisling is ducking out rather than face defeat. Former Martin Cabinet Minister and Liberal defector Foreign Affairs Minister David Emerson is departing. His rationale, he didn't want to make the lengthy commute back and forth to the capital.

This is all good news in a way. ABC will now get to focus most of its energy on the remaining quisling amongst the terrible traitorous trio, Avalon M.P. Fabian Manning.

Loyola Hearn's decision to abandon ship is truly reflective of the type of person he has become, all good captains go down with the ship!
