
Back on July 10th, P&P featured a post about the Pink White and Green and the association with political agitation, sports, unionism and culture in this province.
Imagine my delight when the latest edition of Newfoundland and Labrador Studies arrived via Pop Maloney tonight. The cover features a photo of a Star of the Sea badge made up of a green, white and pink circular fabric attached to a vertical ribbon of the same colours.
Carolyn Lambert, a doctoral candidate in History at Memorial, has published an article entitled "Emblem of our Country: The Red, White and Green Tri-colour" which is published in the Spring 2008 edition.
I have not had a chance to read it entirely but suggest folks with an interest in the history of Pink, White and Green, our unofficial national flag, pick up a copy of the journal and read what promises to be an interesting, well researched article demystifying much of the misinformation and uncertainty surrounding the evolution of the Pink, White and Green.
From what I have read so far the interior designers working on the new plans for the Colonial Building may want to scrap the proposed Pink White and Green motif and start looking at red!
