Talk about your ultimate teenage rebellion. The ultimate expression of defiance to express political autonomy. The most public collective political tantrum. The federal election is shaping up to be entertaining.
Fabian Manning Loyoyla Sullivan and Tom Rideout could form an interesting trinity. Two former Progressive Conservative provincial leaders, two former very senior members of the first William's administration - Finance Minister and Deputy Premier, and a populist long time MHA who all ended up on the wrong side of the Premier and all quit provincial politics while Danny Williams was Premier.
Rumor has it that the three may form the vanguard of the governing Conservative battle to hold onto the three seats on the Avalon and if the fail, well they hope to be rewarded in a future Conservative administration. Harper must be grinning about the potential of giving the premier a bit of a mind $%^% in the opening days of the general campaign.
It is a a rogues gallery and reminder that not everyone in the Provincial Progressive Conservative Party marches to the beat of Danny Williams tune. It sounds like a bit of a rebellion but I would be surprised, shocked even, if they were to garner any support at all from the existing PC caucus.
Sullivan was tasked by the PMO last week to replace Hearn. I had heard he had said no but rumors are strong that he has reconsidered. Other names making the rounds include Lou Puddister, brother of St. John's City councilor Art Puddister.
It should be an interesting couple of days! I am going to enjoy watching from the sidelines.
PS. The Premier has been closing the loop. He has asked members of his caucus to declare whether they support the ABC campaign, and whom they would work for in the federal election
