ELECTION CALL TOMORROW..PERHAPS

Prime Minister Harper is going to roll the dice and call a federal election.

Todays meeting between Liberal Leader Stephane Dion was a going through the motions affair. Dion says the Prime Minister asked him for a commitment to support the government until the fixed election date of October 2009 which of course Dion could not consent to. It was a fools errand that I am not sure what alternative Dion had but to attend.

Of course the Conservative spin machine will play this as further proof than an election is needed because Harper has tried to work with the opposition but cannot find any common ground. I am a little sick of this "Harper is breaking his own fixed term legislation" foolishness. Lets face it, those rules only apply to a majority government situation. If the opposition believed that the fixed terms were fixed than a minority government would equate to a full term. Stop whining and get to the substantial stuff.

So here we go into an election that nobody wants to give us another minority government that nobody wants. The real issue in this campaign is going to be voter participation.
